Motorola Signature 27 goes official: 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, tandem AMOLED display, and a smartphone-first action sensor

After weeks of teasers that already revealed Bang & Olufsen-tuned audio and gave us an early look at the phone in a promotional video, Motorola has now fully unveiled the Signature 27. The follow-up to last year's original Signature finally answers the biggest remaining question: battery capacity. The new model packs a 7,000 mAh cell, marking a 35% increase over its predecessor.

On the front, the Signature 27 sports a 6.78-inch 1.5K "Extreme AMOLED Duo" display built on tandem panel technology with two emissive layers. It delivers a 120Hz refresh rate and an eye-popping 12,000 nits of peak brightness (measured at 1% average pixel level). According to Motorola, the new panel consumes up to 34% less power while offering up to 121% greater longevity compared to the conventional AMOLED used in the first Signature.

Powering the device is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. Keeping thermals in check is Motorola's ArcticMesh cooling system, which combines a micro-diamond-infused thermal gel with an 8,384 mm² vapor chamber — 40% larger than the one in the previous generation.

The camera setup is headlined by a 50MP main shooter using Sony's Lytia 910 sensor with LOFIC technology, an f/1.6 aperture, and optical image stabilization. It's joined by a 200MP periscope telephoto offering 3x optical zoom and up to 100x "Super Zoom Pro," plus a 50MP ultrawide with autofocus and a 122-degree field of view.

A standout addition is what Motorola claims is the first dedicated EVS (Event Vision Sensor) action sensor ever fitted to a smartphone. Operating independently from the main camera array, it registers pixel-level shifts in light intensity and pairs with the Action Shot mode to capture sharply frozen images of fast-moving subjects. Video capabilities include 8K recording at 30fps and 4K at up to 120fps with Dolby Vision, while the 50MP front-facing camera offers autofocus and 4K capture.

The silicon-carbon battery supports 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, alongside 5W reverse wireless and 4.5W reverse wired options. The larger battery does come with a trade-off: at 162.01x77.04x7.99mm and 227g, the Signature 27 is considerably thicker and heavier than the slim 7mm, 186g original.

Durability is a strong suit, with an aluminum frame, a ceramic and glass construction protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance ratings, and MIL-STD-810H certification. The phone also features stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a six-antenna layout with Wi-Fi 8 support, and ships with Android 17 backed by a commitment to seven major OS upgrades. It's primed for Google's Gemini Intelligence capabilities as they arrive over the coming months, with Motorola's own Qira assistant included as well.

The Motorola Signature 27 launches on November 16 across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Buyers can choose between Pantone Coal Smoke with a tactical weave finish and Pantone Capulet Olive with a textile-inspired texture. Pricing is set at $1,599 or €1,899, though select retailers and partners in certain markets will offer it at a reduced €1,399. Stay tuned for further updates as more details emerge.
