OnePlus appears to already be moving ahead with its next Turbo handset, with early leaks pointing to the OnePlus Turbo 7 as a much bigger leap than typical mid-cycle upgrades. After the Turbo 6 arrived in China in January, a Weibo tipster has now shared new details suggesting the follow-up will use a far more powerful chipset and carry over several top-tier features from OnePlus’ higher-end phones.
According to the report, the Turbo 7 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, a processor that has not yet been officially unveiled and is still being refined. The tipster claims OnePlus is trying to be among the first brands to bring a device with the new chip to market, which would make the Turbo line even more competitive in the upper midrange segment.
The leak also indicates that OnePlus will continue pushing premium camera and display features into the Turbo series. The upcoming phone is said to include a 200MP main camera and an 185Hz display, with 165Hz support across the system. The handset is reportedly built with a glass body and will not include a periscope telephoto camera. The source also says the launch could happen by the end of the year.
OnePlus Turbo 6
Those rumored specs would place the Turbo 7 in line with several of OnePlus’ newer flagship-oriented devices, including the OnePlus 16, Ace 7, and Ace 7 Pro, which have featured 200MP main cameras and 185Hz displays. By comparison, the current Turbo 6 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a 165Hz screen, and a 50MP main camera, so the rumored successor would represent a noticeable upgrade on paper.
It is also worth noting that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 has not been confirmed yet, and earlier reports say the upcoming chipset could be named either Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro. In late October, Digital Chat Station reported that a OnePlus Turbo Pro could launch around the end of the year with that same processor, a 6.78-inch 1.5K 185Hz display, a 200MP main camera, and a battery of at least 9,000 mAh. That means the latest leak may actually be describing the same device under a different name.
