WhatsApp has unveiled a fresh set of tools focused on improving group conversations. The headline addition is Group Status, a feature that lets you share status updates only with members of a group. Those members can view, react to, like, and add their own statuses, and all Group Status updates disappear after 24 hours.
WhatsApp already allowed group admins to share a group's message history when new members were being added. Now, you can also share older messages with new members after they have joined. Just tap the new member's name in the group chat.
In another update, WhatsApp now lets you pin messages in a group chat permanently, with no time limit.
WhatsApp has also added a new chat filter that shows every unread group chat where you were mentioned or received a direct reply, including @all messages.
