Introduction: Ford has revealed new pricing details for its upcoming Fathom electric pickup, and the outlook is promising for shoppers who want an affordable midsize EV truck. While the base price starts at $28,350, even the more expensive versions are expected to remain relatively accessible.

During its third-quarter earnings call, Ford clarified that the Fathom’s starting price is just the beginning of the lineup. Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e, said the range will climb into the high $30,000 range, with a couple of different offerings planned within that span. That suggests the truck will likely be available in about two or three trims, and even the most expensive version should stay below $40,000.

Ford CEO Jim Farley also pointed to subscriptions as a key way the company plans to make money from the affordable truck. According to Farley, customers who choose the nicer trims place a strong emphasis on the digital experience. He called the digital suite, including built-in Apple Maps, a game changer for any EV at this price point and described it as the company’s most exciting upsell opportunity, focused on long-term subscription and digital services for customers.
That means a well-equipped Fathom should not carry an especially high upfront cost, though some features may still come with monthly fees. Pre-orders are scheduled to open in early 2027, with first deliveries planned for late 2027. The Fathom will be a midsize electric pickup and the first model built on Ford’s new Universal EV Platform.
