EU Listing Reveals iPad mini (2026) Battery Capacity and Durability Ratings

Source: Date:

Apple's newest iPad mini was announced with an OLED display and the A20 Pro chip, but one key specification remained unclear: the exact battery capacity in mAh. A fresh entry in the EU's EPREL database has now settled that question, while also shedding light on the tablet's durability and efficiency credentials.

According to the listing for model number A3596, the iPad mini (2026) has a rated battery capacity of 4,900 mAh. That's slightly less than the 5,078 mAh (19.3Wh) cell used in the iPad mini (2024), which is understandable given that the new model is almost 1mm thinner and close to 40g lighter.

The database entry also states the battery is rated for 1,000 full charge cycles before it falls to 80% of its original capacity. In the EU's standardized test cycle, it should deliver about 78 hours of use per charge. The battery is not user-replaceable, and Apple specifies a charger with at least 20W of output power.

Beyond battery details, the iPad mini (2026) received an energy efficiency class D, a repairability class C, and a D for drop resistance after reportedly surviving 57 falls without defects. The listing confirms an IP67 rating and scratch resistance at level 4 on the Mohs scale, which is noted as a minimum rather than a maximum. Apple also promises at least five years of software updates for the device.

The iPad mini (2026) starts at $699, €749, or £699. Pre-orders are open now, and the first units will reach buyers on November 6. If you're interested in the chipset's performance, check out its Geekbench results here.
