Oppo Reno17 Pro leak points to familiar specs and a massive battery

Source: Date:

Oppo’s upcoming Reno17 series is already generating attention, and the latest leak suggests the Reno17 Pro may feel very familiar to anyone who followed the Reno16 lineup. According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, Oppo’s next Pro-model Reno could reuse several core hardware choices while making one particularly notable upgrade: battery capacity.

The rumor points to a compact flat-screen design, high-resolution camera hardware, and a large silicon-carbon-style battery that could make the Reno17 Pro one of the more unusual mid-premium phones in its class. If accurate, Oppo appears to be refining a successful formula rather than reinventing it.

Compact display and familiar chipset

The Oppo Reno17 Pro is said to feature a 6.32-inch flat display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. That would place it in a relatively rare category: a high-end-leaning phone that is smaller than today’s typical 6.7-inch flagships.

Inside, the device is rumored to use the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super chipset. That is the same processor expected from the global Oppo Reno16 Pro, though it differs from the Reno16 Pro sold in China, which is said to use the Dimensity 9500s and a much larger 6.78-inch display.

Camera setup may remain ambitious

The camera specifications are also reportedly similar to those of the previous generation. The Reno17 Pro is expected to include a 200MP main camera with a large sensor and gimbal-style stabilization, along with a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. A 50MP front-facing camera is also rumored for selfies and video calls.

Periscope telephoto cameras are still uncommon on smaller phones, so if the Reno17 Pro keeps this feature, it could remain one of the most camera-versatile compact devices in Oppo’s portfolio.

Battery could be the biggest upgrade

The most interesting change is reportedly the battery. The Reno17 Pro is tipped to include a roughly 7,000mAh cell, which would be a significant increase over the 6,700mAh battery found in the global Reno16 Pro and the 6,000mAh unit used in the European version.

For a phone with a 6.32-inch display, that would be an unusually large battery. Charging speeds have not yet been revealed, but a battery of this size could become one of the phone’s main selling points if Oppo maintains a slim enough design.

AI features and design focus

Another leak, from Smart Pikachu, claims the Reno17 series will emphasize stylish design and 200MP camera capabilities. The lineup is also said to include improved tools for live photos, live videos, and photo editing, while retaining a dedicated AI button.

The same source previously suggested Oppo was testing teleconverter support for the Reno17 family. That feature has generally been associated with Oppo’s Find X series, so its arrival on the Reno line could signal a stronger focus on advanced photography accessories.

Launch timing and competition

The Reno17 series is expected to debut in China in November, reportedly running ColorOS 17 based on Android 17. The lineup may later reach India by early January 2027, although the Pro version might not be sold in that market.

In China, the Reno17 Pro is expected to compete with upcoming devices such as the Honor 700 series and the vivo S70 lineup, both of which are also rumored to arrive around the same time.
