Bose Strengthens Lifestyle Audio Strategy by Acquiring Skullcandy

Bose Corporation is expanding its reach in the lifestyle audio market through the acquisition of Skullcandy, a brand known for its youth-oriented designs and strong connection to music, sports, and street culture. The move brings together Bose’s long-standing audio engineering expertise and Skullcandy’s distinctive brand identity, with both companies aiming to create new products and broader consumer experiences.

As part of the agreement, Skullcandy will continue to operate as a separate brand within Bose’s Premium Consumer Audio portfolio. The company will also maintain its roots in Park City, Utah, preserving the identity and creative direction that have helped define the brand over the past two decades.

Bose and Skullcandy already have an established history of collaboration. Before the acquisition, the two companies worked together through a multi-year partnership in which select Skullcandy headphones and earbuds featured licensed Sound by Bose technology. That existing relationship appears to have laid the groundwork for a deeper integration under Bose’s ownership.

Bose has not disclosed the financial terms of the transaction. However, company leadership highlighted the acquisition as a strategic long-term investment, noting Skullcandy’s strong brand position and the potential for both companies to reach more listeners worldwide through combined expertise.

Skullcandy’s leadership also welcomed the deal, describing the acquisition as a positive step for the brand and its fans. By gaining access to Bose’s audio technologies and resources, Skullcandy aims to enhance its product offerings while continuing to deliver the energetic, experience-driven identity that has shaped the brand since its founding more than 20 years ago.
