Apple Reportedly Raises iPhone Duo Production Target by 44% After Strong Preorders

Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo is reportedly gaining momentum before its official retail debut, as strong preorders push the company to raise production expectations.

According to supply-chain information, Apple has increased its shipment target for the iPhone Duo from 9.7 million units to 14 million units during the first 12 months of production, a jump of about 44%. The instructions are said to have been passed to Foxconn and component suppliers.

The revised target marks a notable shift from earlier estimates. Reports earlier this year suggested Apple was preparing around 10 million foldable iPhones for 2026, while another analyst later lowered expectations to roughly 6 million units, citing hinge constraints.

However, the higher order target does not guarantee higher retail availability. Production is still said to be affected by assembly challenges, particularly involving displays and hinges. Actual output will depend on how quickly manufacturing issues can be resolved.

Despite those limitations, Apple appears to be benefiting from intense early interest. Shipping estimates slipped soon after preorders opened, though some customers have since seen improved delivery dates.

The iPhone Duo launches on October 23 with a starting price of $1,999 in the US. Apple has cautioned that walk-in availability may be limited and has restricted purchases to two units per customer. Looking ahead, industry forecasts point to stronger growth in foldable shipments, with Apple’s entry expected to accelerate adoption in 2026 and beyond.
