Samsung Commences Mass Production of Exynos 2700 Chipset Amid Galaxy S27 Ultra Uncertainties

Samsung has officially kicked off the mass production of its latest Exynos 2700 chipset, as reported by the Korean outlet The Elec. This new generation chip aims to surpass the production target of its predecessor, the Exynos 2600, by more than 10% to accommodate the introduction of the Galaxy S27 Pro in the S-series lineup.

The Galaxy S27 Pro, alongside its standard and Plus variants, will feature the Exynos 2700 for the Korean and European markets, while the US and China models will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor.

However, the decision regarding the Galaxy S27 Ultra remains uncertain. Samsung System LSI, responsible for the design of Exynos chips, expresses confidence in the performance of the 2700 and is advocating for its inclusion in the premium S-series smartphone. This would not only enhance the division’s profits but also affirm that the Exynos 2700 meets the demands for a high-end flagship device.

The final decision rests with the Samsung MX division, which is evaluating various elements such as benchmark scores, thermal efficiency, the pricing of Qualcomm’s chips, and the production capabilities of the Exynos 2700.

Recent internal assessments suggested that the Exynos 2700 outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in multi-core Geekbench tests by approximately 9.5%, although Qualcomm’s chip retains the advantage in single-core tests.

Manufactured on Samsung's new SF2P 2nm Gate-All-Around (GAA) node, the Exynos 2700 is set to deliver a 12% boost in performance, a 25% reduction in power consumption, and an 8% decrease in size compared to the first-generation node (SF2) used for the Exynos 2600. Notably, the Exynos 2700 is expected to incorporate Arm C2 CPU cores, a step up from the C1 cores used in its predecessor.

Exynos 2700 Production

Typically, the timeline from initiating mass production to having the final product ready spans three to four months. This schedule aligns well with the anticipated launch of the Galaxy S27 series around February or March.
