In this article, we will explore the key specifications and features of both models, highlighting what makes them stand out in the competitive smartphone market.

Huawei Mate 90 Pro

The Huawei Mate 90 Pro features a stunning 6.75” LTPO OLED display boasting a resolution of 1280p+ and an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz. This new model is equipped with a dual-layer OLED panel, providing exceptional peak brightness of up to 12,000 nits.

The device's design includes third-generation Kunlun glass for the front, a robust metal frame, and a nylon fiber back panel. Its IP68 rating allows it to withstand submersion in water up to 6m and an IP69K rating for protection against hot water jets. The display is also functional when wet, making it perfect for outdoor use.

Under the hood, the Mate 90 Pro is powered by the Kirin 9035 chipset, which boasts a 20% performance increase over its predecessor’s chip. Although the GPU specifications are not thoroughly detailed, it supports hardware ray tracing and can render 31 million rays per second.

The phone comes with options of either 12GB or 16GB of RAM, alongside storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB. While there is no memory card slot available, it does support dual-SIM functionality and eSIM. Additionally, Beidou Satellite Messaging allows users to send messages and photos via satellite.

The Mate 90 Pro houses a powerful 6,600mAh battery, up from the previous model's 5,750mAh. Users can enjoy up to 41 hours of video playback on a single charge. The battery supports 100W wired SuperCharge and 50W wireless charging, with reverse charging capabilities available as well.

In terms of photography, the Mate 90 Pro retains a similar camera setup to its predecessor, featuring a 50MP main camera with RYYB sensor and a versatile f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture. An ultra-wide 40MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 50MP telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom capabilities round out the setup. Notably, the telephoto module can switch to macro mode for close-up shots from just 5cm away.

Huawei Mate 90

The Huawei Mate 90 starts at CNY 6,000, making it a more affordable option while still delivering impressive specifications. This model is powered by the Kirin 9030 chipset, offering a 27% performance improvement over the previous vanilla model, although it’s still not as advanced as the Mate 90 Pro’s chipset.

Unlike the Pro version, there is no 16GB RAM variant available for the Mate 90, which comes with 12GB of RAM instead, while maintaining solid storage options including 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

The Mate 90's camera specifications align closely with the Pro version, featuring a 50MP RYYB main sensor and a 40MP ultra-wide sensor; however, the telephoto lens, while still offering 50MP, has a different configuration with 4x optical zoom and no macro mode.

Both models feature a 6,600mAh battery capable of 41 hours of video playback. However, the Mate 90 supports a slower 66W wired charging rate, while wireless charging remains at 50W.
