Apple is gearing up for an exciting product launch with the anticipated release of its "HomePod with a screen," also referred to as the HomePad. According to a recent report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this innovative smart-home hub is scheduled to make its debut on October 13. Alongside the HomePad, Apple will also unveil an updated HomePod mini and a new Apple TV 4K box, both of which have been long-awaited by fans.
This new device, codenamed J490, is positioned as a central player in Apple's smart home strategy. The last iteration of the HomePod was released in 2020, while the Apple TV 4K box has not seen an update since 2022.

The HomePad is said to feature a 6-inch display that can either be mounted on a wall or set up on a countertop. With a thickness comparable to an iPhone and bezels akin to older iPads, it promises a sleek design. The device will sport a round metal base that houses speakers and microphones, along with a flexible metal arm to adjust the display’s angle. A wall-mounted version will have a thinner base to accommodate its speakers and mics. Powering the HomePad will be a USB-C connection, as it does not include a battery. It will reportedly be available in Apple's classic gray aluminum finish.
HomePad’s interface will mimic the layout of an iPad, featuring a two-panel design for various apps such as Messages. This device will serve multiple functions, including controlling smart home devices, making video calls, playing music, displaying photo slideshows, and supporting intercom-style calls. It will utilize advanced voice and facial recognition capabilities to interact with users seamlessly.
