This cutting-edge, AI-native solution is designed specifically for smartphones and aims to deliver superior performance and efficiency.
Introducing the Arm CSS for Mobile 2
The cornerstone of this new platform is the Arm Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU, which boasts integrated AI acceleration capabilities alongside an Arm C2 CPU cluster composed of Ultra and Pro cores. Notably, this configuration features the Scalable Matrix Extension 2 (SME2) technology, empowering smartphones with advanced AI processing capabilities.
The Arm Mali G2-Ultra NX stands out as the first Mali GPU equipped with dedicated AI acceleration. This innovation results in four times the performance per watt, particularly for neural graphics applications — graphics that undergo enhancement, reconstruction, or even complete generation through Arm's Neural Technology.
The Arm C2-Ultra CPU cores represent the forefront of processing speed within Arm’s line-up. They achieve an impressive 15% increase in single-thread performance compared to their predecessor, the C1-Ultra, while also delivering a remarkable 38% reduction in power consumption at equivalent performance levels. Meanwhile, the C2-Pro cores are optimized for efficiency, featuring two SME2 units that facilitate low-latency AI tasks directly on the CPU. This upgrade doubles the processing power of the previous generation, leading to a staggering 70% acceleration in processing Small Language Models.
The adoption of SME2 technology has already gained traction in both Android and iOS devices, with contributions from major players such as Alipay, Google AI Edge Gallery, Oppo, and vivo.
