Xiaomi has made a bold announcement with the launch of the Xiaomi 18 Fold, its first-ever wide-style foldable smartphone. Arriving just two days ahead of Apple's highly anticipated iPhone Ultra, the 18 Fold not only shares design elements but also introduces a vibrant cherry red color option. This innovative device promises to set a new standard in the foldable smartphone market.
Powering the 18 Fold is the cutting-edge Xring O3 SoC, which comes with a choice of 12 or 16GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to a generous 1TB. Depending on the RAM configuration, users will benefit from either LPDDR5X or LPDDR6 memory technology.
The smartphone features an expansive 7.58” folding display with a resolution of 2364x1672, alongside a cover screen measuring 5.38” at 1168x1712 resolution. Both screens boast a 120Hz refresh rate, 2:1 aspect ratio, and a remarkable peak brightness of 4,000 nits. The cover screen is reinforced with Xiaomi's Shield Glass 3.0 for enhanced durability.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the impressive 200MP main camera equipped with Samsung's ISOCELL HP5 sensor, complemented by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens offering 3.5x optical zoom and a 160mm 7x in-sensor "lossless" zoom. Additionally, a 50MP ultrawide camera and dual 16MP selfie cameras round out the impressive camera setup.
A 6,000mAh battery, containing 20% silicon, powers the device, supporting fast charging at 67W wired and 50W wireless. The Xiaomi 18 Fold runs on HyperOS 4, based on Android 17, and features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button, along with stereo speakers delivering Dolby Atmos sound.
Available colors include black, cherry red, "Warm Gold", and a special ceramic edition. When folded, the smartphone has dimensions of 117.8 x 83.6 x 10.68 mm, and it measures 117.8 x 163.8 x 5.02 mm when unfolded, weighing in at 219g.
Pricing starts at CNY 10,999 ($1,638) for the base 12/256GB model, while the top-end ceramic special edition (16GB RAM and 1TB storage) comes in at CNY 15,999 ($2,383). Notably, Xiaomi has no plans to release the 18 Fold outside of China.
