"Apple Set to Enter Gaming Space with Two New Game Controllers"

In a surprising move that could signal Apple's growing interest in the gaming industry, code discovered within the upcoming macOS 26.7 has revealed information about not one, but two new game controllers. While Apple has previously dabbled in gaming hardware, it's been years since the company has offered a dedicated controller, making these potential releases particularly intriguing.

The recent macOS Tahoe 26.7 release candidate not only hints at these controllers but also includes references to other unannounced products, such as AirPods with cameras and new HomePod mini devices. However, the standout entries are the T6502 and T1057, which have been categorized as game controllers.

While Apple doesn't currently offer its own controllers—aside from the ill-fated Pippin console of the 1990s—the company has invested heavily in ensuring compatibility with popular third-party controllers from gaming giants like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo.

Details regarding the upcoming controllers have started to surface. Both models will incorporate the standard ABXY button layout, dual clickable thumbsticks, shoulder buttons, analog triggers, and Home and Menu buttons, marking them as contemporary controllers.

The T6502 is positioned as the entry-level model, featuring only USB connectivity with no motion sensors or advanced features like a touchpad, microphone, or speaker. However, it does include an Options button and boasts four haptic channels for immersive feedback.

On the other hand, the T1057 appears to be the premium model, supporting both USB and Bluetooth connections. It comes equipped with an accelerometer and gyroscope for enhanced gameplay but opts for a simplified design by omitting the Options key and featuring just a single haptic motor.

Initially, these controller references were publicly accessible in macOS 26.7 but were later removed in the following release, raising questions about Apple’s strategy going forward. Whether this development indicates imminent gaming-related announcements is certainly a topic for speculation among tech enthusiasts and gamers alike.
