Xiaomi's marketing executive, Xu Jieyun, sought to validate the Skynomad’s capabilities through an authentic test rather than simulations. He embarked on a daring journey with three other passengers, loaded with an additional 50 kg of luggage, covering 1,230 kilometers from Shanghai to the company's manufacturing hub in Beijing on a combination of battery power and traditional fuel.
This challenging trip was driven under realistic conditions—cabin climate set to a comfortable 24°C, with tire pressure at a standard 2.9 bar. The Skynomad maintained an average highway speed of 104 km/h while utilizing Xiaomi's advanced "Hyper Autonomous Driving" technology for guidance.
In its first phase, the Skynomad operated entirely on electric power, managing to cover 323.6 km before activating the combustion engine. This performance equated to 69.7% of its advertised pure electric driving range and consumed 19.7 kWh per 100 km. The completely electric segment of the journey could meet the suburban commuting needs for many families without requiring petrol.
Upon reaching the trip’s end, the onboard digital display indicated a remaining range of 54 km, resulting in an impressive actual distance of approximately 1,284 km achieved under realistic travel conditions with a full passenger load.
Powering the Skynomad N90 Max is an all-electric dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that generates 310 kW of power. Its 76 kWh NMC battery, provided by CALB, enables rapid charging, achieving a 20% to 80% state of charge in just 18 minutes. The integrated 1.5-liter turbocharged engine functions as a generator, maintaining an efficient fuel consumption of 6.7 l per 100 km when the battery is depleted.
With ample dimensions of 5,285 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,825 mm in height, the Skynomad comfortably accommodates passengers in its spacious three-row layout, prioritizing comfort and luxury.
After entering the automotive sector with the sleek SU7 sedan, Xiaomi pivoted to meet the demand for family-friendly vehicles.
