However, as the EV market has transformed rapidly, BMW has rethought its strategy. Faced with increasing competition from agile domestic brands, the company introduced its latest long-wheelbase iX3 and i3, heralding a fresh approach to luxury electric mobility.
The new iX3, engineered on the revolutionary Neue Klasse framework — a name that recalls BMW’s historical turnaround during the 1960s — represents a striking evolution from previous models. The vehicle is offered in three distinct trims, with prices starting at RMB 269,900 (approximately €33,900) and peaking at RMB 339,900 (around €43,000). Design-wise, the iX3 abandons the previous oversized grille in favor of a sleek, modern front face featuring an illuminated kidney grille and advanced LED light clusters. With dimensions of 4,885 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, 1,635 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,005 mm, it stands as a testament to BMW's commitment to spaciousness and luxury.
The new iX3 significantly outmeasures the standard European variant, which is 4,782 mm long and has a wheelbase of 2,897 mm. Aside from the iX3, BMW also introduced the i3 Long Wheelbase electric sedan during the event. Set to begin production in early 2027, this stylish sedan mirrors the iX3's 800V architecture and extended wheelbase. The i3 is adorned in a striking blue finish and features similar technological advancements, including the impressive 43.3-inch HUD display and a competitive 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds.
