Sony has officially unveiled the Xperia 10 VIII, the latest addition to its Xperia midrange lineup. While fans might expect a significant upgrade from the previous iteration, the Xperia 10 VII, this release feels somewhat modest. Priced at €599/£549, this device seems to offer little more than a refresh of last year’s model, albeit with a few tweaks here and there.
The new Xperia 10 VIII retains the familiar 6.1-inch LTPS OLED display that was also featured in its predecessor, maintaining a FHD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. However, Sony claims to have improved brightness by 50%, though specific brightness figures have not been disclosed. The smartphone continues to include front-firing stereo speakers, which have reportedly been enhanced by 30% for a better audio experience.
Under the hood, the Xperia 10 VIII still relies on the older Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. Fortunately, the classic microSD card slot remains, preserving one of the few remaining options for users seeking expandable storage. The device also retains the convenient headphone jack, allowing users to connect their wired headphones without the need for adapters.
On the rear, the phone features the same dual-camera configuration, consisting of a 50MP primary sensor (1/1.56") alongside a 13MP ultrawide lens, mirroring last year's setup. The battery also remains unchanged at 5,000 mAh and includes support for 30W fast charging. Software-wise, the Xperia 10 VIII launches with Android 16, adorned with Sony’s near-stock interface, with promises of up to four major OS updates.
Available Colors: The Xperia 10 VIII will be released in three color options: Frozen White, Frosted Grey, and Misty Lilac. However, consumers will have to wait a bit longer, as the phone is expected to hit the market in “mid to late September.”
