Rumors Suggest iPhone 18 to Feature Upgraded RAM and Dynamic Island

In an exciting turn of events for Apple enthusiasts, new reports suggest that the upcoming iPhone 18 will receive a substantial upgrade in its RAM capacity. Analyst Jeff Pu has indicated that the iPhone 18 may come equipped with 12GB of RAM, a notable increase from the current iPhone 17, which features 8GB. This upgrade aims to enhance the performance of Apple's advanced features, especially as the new iOS version integrates smarter AI functionalities, including an improved Siri.

Pu's insights stand in contrast to previous projections made by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who had mentioned that both the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e would include 9GB of RAM. However, Pu clarifies that only the iPhone 18e will have 9GB of RAM, while the standard iPhone 18 is positioned to receive the more substantial 12GB. Both models are expected to run on the forthcoming A20 chip.

The two devices may be announced simultaneously in early 2027. Traditionally, Apple has preferred to unveil its flagship models—the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra—in September, while the standard iPhone 18, its more affordable counterpart the iPhone 18e, and the anticipated iPhone Air 2 are likely to be introduced the following year.

With the jump in RAM, users can expect an even smoother experience, particularly as iOS 27 rolls out with exciting updates to Apple's virtual assistant capabilities.
