BMW iX5 Long Wheelbase Model Launched Exclusively for Chinese Market

In response to the growing demand for luxurious SUV options in China, BMW has introduced the iX5 Long Wheelbase (LWB), a variant tailored specifically for Chinese consumers. This innovative model boasts a stretched wheelbase, enhancing rear-seat legroom and comfort, making it ideal for passengers who prioritize spaciousness during their travels.

The iX5 LWB features a wheelbase that is extended by 130mm compared to its standard counterpart, bringing the total to 3,165mm. This modification reflects BMW's commitment to catering to the unique preferences of the Chinese luxury SUV market.

While the Long Wheelbase model does not introduce new powertrain or battery technologies, it leverages the existing features of the standard iX5. BMW has enhanced the model with market-specific digital services and connected features, alongside its production in China to better serve local buyers.

The iX5 LWB incorporates BMW's advanced sixth-generation eDrive technology along with an 800V architecture. The vehicle is equipped with a substantial 141 kWh battery pack, which offers a CLTC-estimated range of over 620 miles. It also includes the "Heart of Joy" central computing platform and a locally developed "Address-to-Address" assisted driving system in collaboration with Momenta.

Consumers can expect availability of the iX5 Long Wheelbase in China starting in 2027.
