"Introducing Facebook Verified: A New Way to Confirm Real Identities on the Platform"

In an effort to enhance user authenticity and safety, Meta has unveiled Facebook Verified, a new feature that provides a free badge to confirm the presence of a real person behind an account. This initiative aims to combat fake profiles and promote genuine interactions among users.

To obtain the badge, users must complete a selfie-based verification process. This involves recording a short selfie video, which Meta will compare with existing profile pictures to verify identity. The verification process is designed to be quick and should take just a few minutes to complete.

Once verified, the badge will be displayed in various sections of Facebook, including Marketplace, Dating, Groups, and on users' profiles. In the future, it will also be visible in Feed posts. However, it’s important to note that while the badge indicates the account belongs to a real person, it does not imply an endorsement or guarantee of the user's trustworthiness by Facebook.

The Facebook Verified feature is available for users over 18 years old who adhere to Facebook's Community Standards and demonstrate no signs of fraudulent or deceptive behavior. Unfortunately, this feature is not applicable to pages or ProMode accounts.

The rollout of Facebook Verified will occur in phases, starting from unspecified "select markets" and will gradually expand to a global audience.
