HMD has launched the Nokia 123 Shield, a new 2G feature phone that the company proudly claims is its "most affordable water and dust-resistant feature phone" designed for optimal call quality.
The Nokia 123 Shield is engineered to endure rain, splashes, sand, and dust. While HMD does not promote an official IP rating for the device, a note on their website suggests that it "meets the requirements of IP65 rating under IEC standard 60529."
Furthermore, HMD asserts that the Nokia 123 Shield is constructed specifically for outdoor professionals. It features a slip-resistant texture on the sides and includes a rubber seal to safeguard the headphone and charging ports.
In terms of call quality, HMD claims that the Nokia 123 Shield is optimized for a stronger, more reliable signal, providing clearer calls and improved connectivity compared to older 2G models like the Nokia 105.
Under the hood, the Nokia 123 Shield is powered by the Unisoc SC6531E chip and runs on the S30+ operating system. It is equipped with 4MB of RAM and 4MB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card.
The phone features a 2.4-inch QVGA display and a QVGA rear camera, complemented by an LED flash that serves as a torch, being 300% brighter than the flash on the Nokia 110.
The Nokia 123 Shield is supported by a 1,750 mAh removable battery that charges through a USB-C port, providing up to 19 days of standby time and 27.9 hours of talk time.
Additional features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual SIM support, and FM radio capabilities (both wired and wireless).
Color Options for the Nokia 123 Shield
The Nokia 123 Shield is available in green and purple. While HMD has not disclosed its pricing, it has been listed by various retailers in Bulgaria for approximately €35 and in Greece for around €40.
