HMD has introduced the Nokia 123 Shield, a new 2G feature phone proclaimed as the brand's "most affordable water and dust-resistant feature phone." This device is designed to provide reliable call quality.
According to HMD, the Nokia 123 Shield is resilient against rain, splashes, sand, and dust. Although the phone does not advertise a specific IP rating, a note on the official website claims that it meets IP65 standards as outlined in IEC 60529.
Designed particularly for outdoor workers, the Nokia 123 Shield features a slip-resistant texture on its sides and a rubber seal to protect the headphone and charging ports.
HMD asserts that the Nokia 123 Shield is optimized for stronger, more reliable signals, resulting in clearer calls and better connectivity compared to traditional 2G feature phones like the Nokia 105.
Powering the Nokia 123 Shield is the Unisoc SC6531E chip, with the device running on the S30+ operating system. It comes equipped with 4MB of RAM and 4MB of internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card.
The phone features a 2.4" QVGA display along with a QVGA camera on the rear, accompanied by an LED flash that doubles as a torch, which is reported to be 300% brighter than the flash on the Nokia 110.
Equipped with a 1,750 mAh removable battery that charges via USB-C, the Nokia 123 Shield offers impressive performance, providing up to 19 days of standby time and 27.9 hours of talk time.
Additional features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual SIM support, and FM radio, both wired and wireless.
Nokia 123 Shield's Color Options
The Nokia 123 Shield will be available in green and purple. While HMD has not officially disclosed its price, it is listed by various retailers in Bulgaria for approximately €35 and in Greece for around €40.
