Shortly after the launch of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, various reports emerged online regarding a red screen issue. Initially, the cause was unclear, leading many to believe it might be a hardware issue linked to the first-generation Privacy Display OLED.
However, Samsung has since issued an official statement, with an executive explaining the root cause of the problem. It has been confirmed that this is not a hardware defect but can be resolved through a software update. According to the company, the reddish tint may appear when the OLED display is exposed to strong ambient lighting. To address this, Samsung is actively working on a software update to correct the color balance.
Unfortunately, the software fix has not yet been released. If the red screen issue is troubling you and you need a quick solution, visiting one of Samsung's service centers may be necessary.
While this issue is frustrating, it's somewhat reassuring to know that it stems from software rather than a defective OLED screen, making it relatively easy to fix.
However, some questions remain. Samsung's statement does not clarify why the issue arises after a period of use, nor why the red or magenta hue only affects specific areas of the display.
