A company representative stated:
We can confirm that the Edge 70 Max will receive up to 3 OS upgrades and 5 years of security maintenance releases (SMR). Lenovo and Motorola Mobility are committed to adhering to the principles outlined in the Lot X regulation and will continue to provide security, corrective, and functionality updates for our phones and tablets. We are also working to enhance the longevity of our products through improved repair and OS update policies.
This clarification comes after readers pointed out discrepancies between the Edge 70 Max product pages across several regional Motorola websites. Some pages indicated "up to 3 Android OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates," while footnotes mentioned only "2 OS upgrades and 3 years of security updates."
As the statement did not address the reason for this inconsistency, we can only speculate that the footnotes may have been copied from other product pages without appropriate updates.
