Google Rebrands NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook: New Features and Updates

Source: Date:

Google's NotebookLM began as a modest experiment in Google Labs back in 2023. However, it has since expanded significantly, attracting over 30 million users and more than 600,000 organizations. Recognizing this growth, Google has decided it is time for a name change.

Today, the company announced that NotebookLM will now be known as Gemini Notebook. Although it will continue to function as a standalone product aimed at being the ultimate research tool, it will also integrate further within the Google ecosystem, including the Gemini app and Google Search.

An update is currently being released, providing each notebook with a secure cloud computer. This enhancement enables Gemini Notebook to write and execute code natively, assisting users with complex data analysis based on their sources. This feature is initially available to Google AI Ultra subscribers and Workspace customers, with plans to roll it out to all Pro users on the web in the coming weeks.

In addition, users will soon be able to access their notebooks from AI Mode in Google Search, alongside the existing functionality in the Gemini app.
