T-Mobile has made a reputation for providing efficient 5G Home Internet services that strike a balance between affordability and performance for many households. However, recent changes to their service terms have sparked concern among new subscribers. These adjustments not only limit speeds but also introduce a price increase that may affect consumer choice.
New Speed Caps
According to The Mobile Report, T-Mobile has long been hailed for fair network practices, striving to deliver peak speeds whenever possible without burdening customers during times of congestion. Previously, their entry-level Reliant Home Internet plan offered impressive 5G speed ranges between 133 and 415 Mbps, closely matching the upper tiers which provided between 170 Mbps and 498 Mbps.
However, a recent shift means new customers will now encounter a strict download limit between 170 Mbps and 354 Mbps, a notable change from the previous experience where no such cap existed.
Price Increase Alert
In addition to speed restrictions, T-Mobile has announced a $5 price hike across all their plans. Fortunately, they have counterbalanced this increase by raising the auto-pay discount by the same amount, primarily affecting new subscribers.
This price adjustment only applies to new customers, while existing users will retain their current pricing.
T-Mobile's New Strategy?
Historically, T-Mobile steered clear of speed-based pricing strategies. However, this recent move hints at a potential shift in policy that could lead to similar speed caps for their postpaid mobile plans in the future.
Encouraging Bundling
