Samsung Relocates US Headquarters from New Jersey to Texas

Samsung has had its US headquarters in New Jersey for over 40 years, primarily in Ridgefield Park. In 2024, the company began planning a move to Englewood Cliffs, also in New Jersey. However, Samsung has now decided to relocate outside the state entirely.

The Korea Times reports that Samsung will shift its headquarters to Plano, Texas, which is situated just north of Dallas, approximately 200 miles from Taylor.

Samsung has established multiple large semiconductor fabs in Taylor and intends to expand its operations further. In 2024, the company received a substantial $6.6 billion subsidy to broaden its foundry initiatives in Texas.

In response to the industry's evolving landscape, Apple is seeking to lessen its reliance on TSMC and has faced pressure from the government to bring manufacturing onshore. To this end, Apple is exploring partnerships with Intel and Samsung fabs, with Apple executives even visiting Samsung’s Texas foundry recently.

“We are preparing for the relocation with the goal of completing the move within this year. After a thorough review, we will finalize plans for headquarters operations and workforce allocation,” stated an anonymous company official.

The majority of the approximately 1,000 employees currently based in Englewood Cliffs will relocate to Plano, with a small team remaining in New Jersey to aid local operations.

Last year, Samsung inaugurated a Networks Innovation Center in Plano, Texas.
