AMD unveiled three notable products at Computex 2026, including a re-released four-year-old CPU, a scaled-down variant of a three-year-old CPU, and a year-old graphics card. This lineup raises questions about the current state of the home PC gaming industry.

The first product is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which was discontinued in 2024 after a two-year production run. AMD's first CPU to utilize the innovative 3D V-Cache technology is making a comeback, leveraging the AM4 platform that supports DDR4 memory. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the AM4 platform, and the re-released 5800X3D will feature an Anniversary Edition badge on its packaging. In addition, it includes a Carbice Ice Pad, replacing traditional thermal compound for improved cooling. Priced at $349, this edition is approximately $100 cheaper than its original launch price, although the CPU often sold for much less during its initial release. It will be available for purchase starting June 25.

AMD also introduced the Ryzen 7 7700X3D, a stripped-down variant of the popular 7800X3D from 2023. The 7700X3D boasts a boost clock of 4.5GHz, down from 5GHz, and a base clock of 4GHz instead of 4.2GHz, while retaining identical specifications. It is priced at $329, making it appear more affordable than the 5800X3D. However, the 7700X3D utilizes the AM5 platform, which requires DDR5 memory, so potential buyers should be prepared for higher expenses unless they already own compatible modules. This processor will be available on July 16. AMD reiterated its support for the AM5 platform, promising compatibility through 2029.

Lastly, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition) graphics card was announced. Initially launched as a China-exclusive product last year, the RX 9070 GRE is now set to launch globally. Although it has eight fewer compute units at 48 compared to the standard 9070, it features a higher clock speed of approximately 2220MHz. The card comes equipped with 12GB of GDDR6 memory, a 192-bit memory interface, and offers 18Gbps bandwidth. AMD claims the RX 9070 GRE delivers an average performance boost of 21% over the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. Priced at $549, it will be available for purchase starting June 2.
