As anticipated, Huawei has officially launched its nova 16 series in China, featuring four models. The flagship, nova 16 Ultra, boasts an impressive camera system and a robust battery.
The nova 16 Ultra is equipped with a significant 7,000 mAh battery, supporting 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and up to 7.5W reverse wireless charging. It holds IP68 and IP69 ingress protection ratings, ensuring durability.
On the front, the nova 16 Ultra features a 6.84-inch LTPO OLED display with FHD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The screen is protected by Kunlun Glass and can reach peak local brightness of up to 6,000 nits. The front-facing camera includes a 50MP sensor and a 1.5MP spectral sensor, situated in a pill-shaped cutout. The fingerprint scanner is conveniently placed on the right side, integrated into the power button.
Internally, the device is powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9010S processor, which also debuted in last year’s Pura 80. The nova 16 Ultra supports satellite communication in China, enabling text message transmission and reception through Beidou satellites.

At the rear, the nova 16 Ultra features a stylish camera module encased in vegan leather. This includes two larger cutouts housing three cameras, a spectral sensor, and an LED flash.
200MP main camera
The standout feature is its 200MP RYYB main sensor (1/1.28”). It possesses an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). Additionally, it has an 88mm-equivalent 50MP telephoto lens offering 3.7x optical zoom, as well as a 50MP ultra-wide-angle macro lens with an f/2.2 aperture.
The nova 16 Ultra runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 6.1 and is available in blue, white, and black.

In China, pricing starts at CNY 4,699 (approximately $695/€596) for the base model with 256GB storage, while the top-tier 1TB model retails for CNY 5,799 (around $857/€735). Shipments are expected to commence on June 6.
