Google has a notable history of device leaks, and the latest addition to that list is the Pixel Watch 5 prototype, which has surfaced from the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. The design details of this upcoming wearable were revealed ahead of its official launch through images shared by Randy Pitchford, co-founder of Gearbox Software, the studio behind the Borderlands franchise.
The images were posted on X, detailing how the watch was discovered during a scuba diving trip near the Caribbean island of St. Martin. Pitchford mentioned that while the device had enough battery life to display the time, its main battery was unfortunately drained. Visually, the Pixel Watch 5 bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor.
On the back of the watch, various markings indicate its key specifications. Notably, it features IP68 ingress protection, which has evidently protected the watch's internals from salt water damage. The markings identify it as the Pixel Watch 5 and confirm that it retains the 45mm size of the larger Pixel Watch 4.
Additional markings indicate the inclusion of a heart rate sensor, UWB chip, pulse sensor, SpO2 monitoring, and skin temperature tracking. Furthermore, reports suggest that the Pixel Watch 5 may utilize a custom Tensor chipset, a departure from the Qualcomm Snapdragon processors used in previous Pixel watches.
