Earlier this year, rumors emerged that Oppo and Huawei might introduce a square selfie sensor in their forthcoming flagship models. A recent leak has indicated that Oppo is set to utilize a 100MP sensor, and now fresh information suggests that the Honor Magic9 could also incorporate a square selfie camera.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the new Oppo Find X10 series will showcase a Samsung-developed 100MP selfie camera sensor with a 1:1 square format, measuring 1/2.5 inches in size.

In a separate Weibo post, the tipster revealed that Honor is also testing a 100MP front-facing camera for its upcoming Magic9 lineup. This series is reportedly being assessed with the OVA0B sensor, measuring 1/1.8 inches, which is expected to be cropped to a 1:1 square format.

DCS further confirmed earlier claims about the Magic9's rear camera configuration, indicating that the lineup will likely feature a 200MP primary camera alongside a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. The tipster noted that Honor is evaluating multiple 200MP sensors for the main camera, including the 1/1.28-inch OV52A and OV52B, as well as the larger 1/1.12-inch OVB0D sensor.

A square-format selfie camera, like that found in the iPhone 17 series, allows users to capture selfies in both portrait and landscape orientations effortlessly. The larger 1:1 sensor format also offers a wider field of view, enabling users to include more people or background elements in their frames.
