Oppo Reno16, Xiaomi 17T, and RedMagic 11S Pro: Key Highlights from Week 22 Tech Releases

Oppo has introduced the Reno16 series in China, consisting of the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro. Both models feature an impressive camera arrangement, including a 200MP main shooter, 50MP telephoto, and 50MP ultrawide lenses, plus a 50MP selfie camera. The primary differences between the two are in display size, processor, and battery capacity. The Reno16 sports a 6.32-inch display, is powered by a Dimensity 8500 Super processor, and is equipped with a 6,700mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging. In contrast, the Reno16 Pro offers a larger 6.78-inch display, a Dimensity 9500s processor, and contains a 7,000mAh battery with capabilities for both 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Both phones are available in China, starting at CNY 3,499 (approximately $515) for the Reno16 and CNY 4,499 (around $660) for the Pro variant, each in a 12/256GB configuration.

The RedMagic 11S Pro has made its global debut, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite Leading Edition, which includes a significantly faster 4.74GHz prime core. The device is enhanced with a RedCore R4 gaming chip, active cooling technology, a vapor chamber, and liquid cooling. It is equipped with a robust 7,500mAh battery capable of 80W charging.

The RedMagic 11S Pro will be available starting June 9, with prices beginning at €799 (about $849 or £709) for the 12/256GB model.

The Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro have also been officially announced. The 17T features a 6.59-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, a Dimensity 8500-Ultra processor, a 6,500mAh battery supporting 67W charging, and a Leica-branded camera setup that includes a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. Meanwhile, the 17T Pro enhances this with a larger 6.83-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, a Dimensity 9500 processor, a 7,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, along with an upgraded 50MP main camera, while retaining the same telephoto and ultrawide setups as the standard model.

The Xiaomi 17T starts at €749, while the 17T Pro is priced from €899. Both devices were announced on May 28 and are being rolled out to global markets immediately.

Additionally, the vivo Y600 Turbo has been unveiled, featuring an impressive 9,020mAh battery and 90W charging capability. It is designed with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display boasting a 144Hz refresh rate, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset, and includes a 50MP main camera along with a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, it offers a 16MP front-facing camera. The device is priced at CNY 1,999 (around $275/€240) and will go on sale in China starting May 31, available in Black, Silver, and Blue.

A recent leak about Apple's foldable iPhone has given further credibility to its anticipated design. The phone is expected to adopt a book-style foldable form factor with a vertically aligned dual-camera setup on the back, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a cover display similar to those of current foldable devices. Reports suggest that the device will maintain a relatively slim profile when opened. Expect the iPhone Ultra (Fold) to launch in late 2023 or early 2027, with an estimated price of around $2,000.

A 12MP front camera will be responsible for selfies.

This device is anticipated to be launched later this year in Black, Blue, and Light Pink color options.
