MediaTek Launches Dimensity 7500 SoC: Competitive Features with Enhanced Performance

Source: Date:

MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 7500, featuring significant upgrades to its CPU, GPU, and NPU. This new system-on-chip (SoC) is designed to compete directly with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 series and is expected to power upper mid-range devices in the coming months.

Manufactured using a 4nm process, the Dimensity 7500 replaces its predecessor, the 7400. It utilizes an enhanced eight-core configuration that moves from the previous Cortex-A78/Cortex-A55 setup to Arm's latest C1 Pro and C1 Nano cores. The new chip features four Arm C1 Pro cores operating at speeds of up to 2.6GHz and four C1 Nano cores with speeds of up to 2.0GHz.

The graphics capabilities are addressed by the Arm Mali-G625 MC2, and the chip supports LPDDR5 memory at 6400Mbps, alongside dual-lane UFS 3.1 storage options.

For AI operations, MediaTek has upgraded the neural processor to the MediaTek NPU 850. This new processor enables advanced features such as real-time speech-to-text functionality, context-aware responses, and notification summarization.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and MediaTek's 5G UltraSave 3.0+, which is reported to offer 20% improved power efficiency.

The Imagiq 1050 image signal processor enhances camera performance, supporting resolutions up to 200MP with 14-bit Dual Conversion Gain and 4K HDR video at 30fps in 10-bit. Additionally, display support extends to resolutions of 1344x2800 pixels with refresh rates of up to 144Hz.

While the improvements over the Dimensity 7400 are incremental, MediaTek claims that users can expect app switching to be up to 30% faster, game loading times reduced by up to 19%, app installations and cold launches accelerated by 11%, file transfer speeds increased by up to 40%, and video transcoding efficiencies improved by an impressive 68%, with overall efficiency gains of up to 9%.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7500 will soon be available in devices, likely including the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max.
