The standout feature of the new Oura Ring 5 is its reduced size. Measuring just over 6mm in width and 2.3mm in thickness, the Oura Ring 5 is 40% smaller than its predecessor, the Ring 4. This new model maintains its titanium construction and features a smoother curvature for improved comfort. It is available in sizes 6-13 and boasts IP68 ingress protection.
Oura has upgraded the sensors with stronger LEDs to enhance measurement accuracy and signal quality. Notably, the company claims improved consistency in readings across various skin tones and finger types. In addition to standard health metrics like heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, sleep, and stress monitoring, Oura is introducing a new “Health Radar system” that enables continuous monitoring of key biometrics, capable of detecting health changes and patterns.
Oura Ring 5
The Oura Ring 5 also incorporates blood pressure signal monitoring during sleep and offers nighttime breathing reports. This feature will be available to Oura app users in the United States, India, and the United Arab Emirates starting in June. Users in these regions will additionally gain GLP-1 insights for medication and weight tracking.
Oura Ring 5 Health and Activity Tracking
Regarding activity tracking, the Ring 5 supports over 50 health metrics, including heart rate data along with pace and distance for activities such as running, cycling, and strength training. Users still need to initiate their workout tracking from the app. Similar to previous Oura Ring models, a subscription to Oura membership ($5.99/month or $69.99/year) is required to access all features.
The battery life of the Oura Ring 5 is rated between 6 and 9 days depending on usage, with a charging time of up to 80 minutes. Oura also announced a new $99 charging case, sold separately, which supports wireless charging and offers up to one month of battery life for recharging the Ring 5 on the go.
The Oura Ring 5 is available in two pricing tiers based on its material finish. The base Silver and Black versions are priced at $399/€429, while the premium Gold, Stealth, and Brushed Silver options retail for $499/€529. The Oura Ring 5 can be purchased through Oura’s online store and partnering retailers such as Amazon.
