MediaTek has officially launched the Dimensity 7500, featuring an upgraded CPU, GPU, and NPU. This new SoC is set to compete directly with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 series and will be integrated into upper mid-range devices in the coming months.

The Dimensity 7500 is manufactured using a 4nm process, similar to its predecessor, the Dimensity 7400. It boasts a significantly enhanced eight-core processor, transitioning from the previous Cortex-A78/Cortex-A55 architecture to Arm's latest C1 Pro and C1 Nano cores. Specifically, the chip includes four Arm C1 Pro cores with speeds reaching up to 2.6GHz and four C1 Nano cores that operate at up to 2.0GHz.

The graphics are powered by the Arm Mali-G625 MC2 processor. It also supports LPDDR5 memory at 6400Mbps and features dual-lane UFS 3.1 storage capabilities.

For AI functionalities, the neural processor has been upgraded to the MediaTek NPU 850. This advancement enables real-time speech-to-text and text-to-speech functionalities, context-aware responses, and notification summarization.

In terms of connectivity, the Dimensity 7500 offers support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and MediaTek's 5G UltraSave 3.0+, which is reported to be 20% more energy-efficient than previous versions.

The new Imagiq 1050 image signal processor is capable of supporting cameras up to 200MP with 14-bit Dual Conversion Gain, along with 4K HDR video recording at 30fps in 10-bit quality. Display support extends up to 1344x2800 pixels with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

While the improvements over the Dimensity 7400 may not be drastic, MediaTek claims that users will experience up to 30% faster app switching, 19% faster game loading, an 11% increase in app installs and cold launches, and up to 40% faster file transfers. Additionally, video transcoding could be up to 68% faster, with efficiency improvements of up to 9%.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7500 is expected to be featured in upcoming devices, including the anticipated Redmi Note 17 Pro Max.
