Yesterday, Xiaomi introduced the 17 Max, and today, a comprehensive teardown video has been released on YouTube by the Chinese channel WekiHome. Although the video is in Chinese, we recommend enabling the English captions available on YouTube for non-Chinese speakers.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is a noteworthy addition as it marks the first Max model in the company's flagship series. Previously, the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max were launched in September, followed by the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in December. Thus, it has been five months since the last member of the Xiaomi 17 lineup was introduced.
This Max version is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, similar to other models in the series. It features a 6.9-inch 1200x2608 LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive peak brightness of 3,500 nits. The device comes with options for 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the 200MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP front-facing camera. The Xiaomi 17 Max is equipped with an 8,000 mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 22.5W both reverse wired and wireless charging. It runs on Android 16 with Xiaomi's HyperOS 3 overlay.
