Hyundai aims to enhance the driving experience by introducing a new software update for its electric vehicles, inspired by international football. The South Korean automaker has launched an exclusive FIFA World Cup 2026 Display Theme, linking the global sporting event with cutting-edge dashboard technology.

Available now to drivers in the United States, Canada, Europe, and South Korea, this digital package coincides with the upcoming tournament scheduled from June 11 to July 19, 2026, at venues across Mexico, the United States, and Canada, bringing the stadium atmosphere into everyday driving.

However, not all Hyundai vehicles will receive this digital update. The software specifically targets the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the newly introduced Hyundai IONIQ 9, while the Hyundai IONIQ 6 is notably excluded due to its removal from the U.S. market.

The update also extends to the Hyundai NEXO fuel-cell electric vehicle, offering its few owners access to the football-themed graphics. Additionally, several internal combustion engine models, including the Palisade, Tucson, and Santa Fe, are invited to join the digital festivities.

As part of its broader marketing strategy, known as the "Next Starts Now" campaign, Hyundai views the World Cup as an ideal platform to blend stadium excitement with modern car interiors. Sungwon Jee, the Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer, expresses the desire for drivers to experience a taste of future mobility with each drive.

Once installed, the update transforms the digital cluster and central infotainment screen, replacing standard menus with football-themed visuals. The new interface alters the color palette and incorporates specific tournament branding, enhancing the cabin's ambiance.

A standout feature includes animated sequences featuring two robots from Boston Dynamics: Atlas, a bipedal humanoid, and Spot, a quadruped robot. Upon starting the vehicle, these robots greet the driver with an animation, and they also appear during navigation to inject a playful element into the driving experience.

Hyundai's integration of robotics extends beyond digital displays; the automaker intends to deploy real Atlas and Spot robots at World Cup stadiums during the summer of 2026. These robots will assist with match operations and crowd management, as well as interact with fans to enhance engagement, previewing the mechanical companions drivers will see in action during the tournament.
