Jaguar's journey into an all-electric future began with some challenges related to its rebranding and the unveiling of the Type 00 concept car in 2024. Time has passed, and as the public's attention shifts, Jaguar is ready to reveal the name of the first model in this new era.
Introducing the Jaguar Type 01, a luxury four-door GT that will be fully unveiled later this year. Before its official debut, a prototype will be displayed, featuring a distinctive camouflage wrap, at the Monaco E-Prix.
According to Jaguar, the "0" in Type 01 symbolizes electric propulsion and zero tailpipe emissions, while the "1" signifies its status as the inaugural Jaguar in this new era. The company assures that the car will be "designed, developed, and built in the heart of the UK."
The Type 01 will feature tri-motor technology, delivering over 1,000PS and more than 1,300 Nm of torque. Rawdon Glover, Jaguar's managing director, emphasizes that the Type 01 "looks and drives like no other electric car, yet reflects a unique provenance."
Jaguar promises that the Type 01 will showcase "exuberant modernist design, pioneering technology, and instinctive driving dynamics," which will also be foundational to their future models.
