Google is set to preview Android 17 or some of its key features during the Android Show I/O Edition later today. However, Samsung has taken the initiative by announcing its Android 17-based One UI 9 beta program for the Galaxy S26 series.
The One UI 9 beta will be accessible to Galaxy S26 users in selected markets, including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the U.K., and the U.S., starting this week. Interested users can apply to join the beta through the Samsung Members app.

An accompanying press release outlines the new features included in the firmware update. Samsung Contacts now integrates the Creative Studio AI art tool, allowing users to create custom profile cards directly within the app.
The Quick Panel has been enhanced with improved controls, featuring independent toggles for screen brightness, sound, and media player functionalities.
In terms of accessibility enhancements, Samsung has introduced a combined TalkBack voice guidance package, previously offered separately by Google and Samsung. The Text Spotlight feature now supports floating windows for easier reading. Additionally, adjustable Mouse Key speed is being added for improved navigation.
In a boost to security, Samsung will now automatically flag suspicious app activity when it identifies high-risk applications. This feature will prevent the execution and installation of potentially harmful files, while also providing recommendations to enhance device security.
