Samsung's Device Care Update Introduces Ad Notification Blocking Feature for Galaxy Users

Source: Date:
Samsung has rolled out an exciting update to its Device Care app that aims to enhance the user experience by tackling the annoyance of excessive ad notifications from various applications. This new feature, included in version 13.8.80.7 of the Device Care app, empowers Galaxy users to effectively block apps that bombard them with frequent advertisement alerts, helping to create a more streamlined smartphone experience.

Unveiling the New Device Care Feature

Device Care serves as an integral part of Galaxy devices, acting as an optimization toolkit that enhances battery performance, secures data, and manages app behavior on Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and PCs alike.
Accessing the Device Care app is straightforward: navigate to Settings > Device Care (or Battery and device care on previous models), or you can search for "Device Care" in the Settings search bar.
Within the Device Care interface, users will find tools for:
  • Battery management.
  • Storage optimization.
  • Memory (RAM) monitoring.
  • Device protection protocols.
  • Application optimization strategies.

How to Activate the Excessive Ad Blocking Feature

The updated Device Care app introduces a new toggle option for enabling the Excessive Ad Blocking feature. This intelligent functionality detects third-party applications that frequently send ad notifications and places them in a deep sleep mode, preventing them from disturbing users with unwanted alerts.
To view apps that have been placed in deep sleep, navigate to Settings > Device Care > Care Report > Excessive Alerts. There are two modes for blocking disruptive apps: a "basic" setting that utilizes Samsung's data to identify and block these apps, and an "intelligent" setting that analyzes the nature of notifications to distinguish those related to advertisements, ultimately blocking offending apps.

A Look at Other Features of Device Care

While the Excessive Ad Blocking feature is new and innovative, Device Care also includes longstanding functionalities, such as the ability to clear RAM to enhance performance by shutting down unnecessary apps. To free up memory, go to Settings > Device Care > Memory > Clean Now. This routine will also contribute to extending battery life.
Notably, the Virtual Memory feature allows for part of the device's internal storage to be utilized as additional RAM, effectively increasing the device's multitasking capabilities by moving inactive apps to virtual memory.

How to Get the Latest Version of Device Care

The latest iteration of the Device Care app is available on the Galaxy Store and has reportedly been observed on the Galaxy S26 series for some time now. If you cannot find it, ensure that you have installed the stable release of One UI 8.5, as that also includes the updated Device Care app.
