Venmo is undergoing a significant redesign of its app, emphasizing improved privacy features. Users will now have the ability to determine the visibility of their posts during the onboarding process, with options to share content with everyone by default, only with friends, or keep it private. This adjustment addresses a common oversight, as many users may not have been aware that the previous default setting shared posts with all users.
Furthermore, users will have the option to modify their privacy settings later through the app's settings menu. The app also introduces an enhanced flow for sending money, clearly indicating whether a transaction is visible only to the user, friends, or everyone.
The New Venmo App
According to Venmo's Senior Vice President and General Manager, Alexis Sowa, these changes are intended to ensure that users have "more visibility and control over what they share," as fostering trust in the Venmo experience is crucial. The redesign is currently being rolled out in phases for Android and iOS, starting with a refreshed look for the feed.
