Sony has officially announced that it will unveil the Xperia 1 VIII on May 13 at 11:00 AM Japan time. While details are limited, Sony teased that "when brilliance comes full circle, the next one is coming."
The launch will not only feature the much-anticipated flagship phone but also showcase Sony's high-resolution full-frame camera, the A7r VI, along with a new 100-400mm f/4.5 GM lens.
The Xperia 1 VIII is expected to present a redesigned look, characterized by a new square camera island, and a slightly wider and thicker body compared to its predecessor.
Rumors suggest that the new model will include a telephoto sensor ranging from 1/3.0-inch to 1/2.0-inch, a 16mm ultrawide camera, a 24mm wide-angle camera, and a battery life that lasts for "2 days." Further leaked preliminary listings indicate that the Xperia 1 VIII may begin shipping on June 26, with a price tag of approximately €1,868.99 in Germany and £1,728 in the UK.
