Volkswagen Launches ID. Polo: Pricing, Performance, and Range Details

Volkswagen has officially unveiled the ID. Polo, which will be available for pre-order starting at the end of April. The entry-level Trend trim is priced at $29,282 in Germany, a figure Volkswagen describes as "excellent value for money." Ultimately, customers will determine its worth.

The ID. Polo offers four drivetrains with two battery options. The 85kW (116PS) and 99kW (135PS) drivetrains are equipped with a 37kWh net capacity LFP battery, supporting 90kW DC fast charging. Meanwhile, the 155kW (211PS) drivetrain features a 52kWh net NMC battery, which supports 105kW DC fast charging. An ID. Polo GTI variant, expected next year, will output 166kW (226PS).

Volkswagen projects a range of up to 204 miles with the smaller battery and up to 282 miles with the larger battery, based on the WLTP cycle. All versions achieve a top speed of 99 mph. The ID. Polo is based on the MEB+ modular electric drive platform, featuring front-wheel drive. This platform allows the ID. Polo to offer 15.6 ft³ of trunk space while maintaining compact dimensions of 159.6 inches in length, 71.5 inches in width, and 60.2 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 102.4 inches.

The interior features a 10-inch "Digital Cockpit" displayed in front of the driver and a 13-inch infotainment screen, even in the base Trend model. The Life trim adds features such as adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera system, Park Distance Control, Front Cross Traffic Assist, an anti-dazzle interior mirror, and electrically folding exterior mirrors. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard from this trim up, along with a wireless smartphone charger.

The top-tier Style trim includes LED matrix headlights, 3D light tail clusters, illuminated VW logos, sport comfort seats, high-quality interior materials, steering wheel and seat heating, and two-zone climate control.

Optional features include a 425W Harman/Kardon audio system with ten speakers and a subwoofer, a panoramic glass roof, and an electrically adjustable 12-way front seat with pneumatic massage functionality. Vehicle-to-load capability will be standard across all trims, supporting up to 3.6kW.
