Samsung Foundry Achieves Over 80% Yield in 4nm Chip Production

A recent report from South Korea indicates that Samsung Foundry has reached a significant milestone in its 4nm FinFET process production. According to SEDaily, Samsung Foundry has exceeded the 80% yield rate for its 4nm process, indicating its advancement into the process maturity stage.

This achievement positions Samsung to compete directly with TSMC in meeting the heightened demand for memory chips from major tech companies. The Samsung Electronics’ Pyeongtaek Campus, which also manufactures 5nm and 7nm chips, is now prepared to supply 4nm chips to AI accelerators as well as clients in the automotive and mobile technology sectors. Additionally, Samsung Foundry’s 4nm process serves as the foundational die for the sixth-generation HBM4 memory chips.

With six years of experience mass-producing 4nm chips, Samsung’s established process is set to help the company mitigate the impacts of rising memory prices and aim for profitability in the latter half of this year.
