Apple is set to unveil iOS 27 on June 8 during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. This latest version of the operating system is anticipated to launch a smarter Siri, powered by Google's Gemini models.
In addition to Siri enhancements, a new report from Bloomberg highlights three AI-driven features that will enhance the Photos app. This update will introduce an Apple Intelligence Tools section within the editing interface, featuring four key tools: Extend, Enhance, Reframe, and Clean Up.

The Extend tool allows users to generate additional content beyond the original image frame. Users can control the amount added and the specific area expanded with a simple touch.
The Enhance feature leverages AI to automatically optimize colors, lighting, and overall image quality.
Reframe is tailored for spatial photos, which are 3D images designed for the Vision Pro headset. This function enables users to shift perspectives after capturing a photo.
The Clean Up feature is already available in the Photos app as the sole AI-powered editing tool, allowing users to remove unwanted objects from images, and it is expected to continue its functionality in iOS 27.
However, Bloomberg's sources indicate that the development of these new AI features has encountered challenges, with both Extend and Reframe failing to perform consistently during internal testing. As a result, Apple may consider delaying or scaling back these tools. Additionally, there have been numerous complaints regarding the Clean Up tool, which can occasionally leave artifacts, distort images, or inaccurately fill removed areas.
