In January, Apple confirmed that Google's Gemini AI models would power the next evolution of Apple Intelligence. This upgrade is anticipated to be showcased at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June, and it aims to include a completely overhauled Siri, set to launch with iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 in the fall.

Google confirms: revamped Siri will be powered by Gemini

Recently, Google reaffirmed this partnership at the ongoing Cloud Next 2026 conference in Las Vegas. During the event, Google Cloud chief Thomas Kurian stated:

"Earlier this year, we announced a monumental partnership with one of the most iconic brands that will bring the power of our technology to users everywhere around the world. We're collaborating with Apple as their preferred cloud provider to develop the next generation of Apple Foundation Models based on Gemini technology. These models will now power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming later this year."

With this confirmation, it is evident that Apple Intelligence is set to become smarter in the coming months. Although the revamped Siri was initially slated for release last year, its launch was postponed to this spring due to accuracy issues. It remains unclear whether the Gemini models will operate on Google's servers or utilize Apple's Private Cloud Compute. More details are expected to emerge in early June, so stay tuned.
