In October, Google announced that Google Wallet on Android would gain the ability to track live flight updates via a persistent notification on your home screen. This feature is now available to users.
The live updates are activated when you add a boarding pass to Google Wallet. Previously, this integration provided notifications for important changes such as boarding times and gate alterations. Additionally, the Wallet app uses its Gmail integration to alert users to check in if they have not yet added a boarding pass for any flight reservations found in their emails.

For users on Android 16, a persistent notification becomes active shortly before takeoff. This notification includes your estimated time of arrival, as well as a progress bar indicating the duration of the flight and how much time has elapsed.
By tapping on this notification, you are redirected to the usual ticket page, which features a link to Google Flights that opens as a web search result.
