In early March, it was revealed that WhatsApp would be introducing a subscription service, and this has now been confirmed. WhatsApp is officially testing WhatsApp Plus, available for €2.49 per month in Europe, PKR 229 per month in Pakistan, and MXN 29 per month in Mexico.
By subscribing, users gain access to exclusive premium stickers, the ability to customize the app theme with 18 color options, and even the choice of a custom icon for WhatsApp, which will be displayed on the home screen and in the app drawer.
WhatsApp Plus Features: Stickers, Themes, Icons
Subscribers can pin up to 20 chats with WhatsApp Plus, significantly increasing the previous limit of 3 for non-subscribers. Additionally, the service offers 10 exclusive premium ringtones, and users can apply certain settings in bulk across multiple chats and groups within a custom list.
For instance, users can set a specific theme for all conversations in a designated list, and any new conversation added to that list will automatically adopt the chosen theme.
WhatsApp Plus Features: Pinning, Ringtones, Lists
WhatsApp Plus is currently available to a select number of users as it undergoes testing. Its reach is expected to expand soon. At this stage, the paid plan is predominantly focused on Android users, with support for iOS expected in the future. Importantly, all fundamental WhatsApp features, including end-to-end encryption, remain free of charge, and no core features have been removed from the free version; all Plus features are entirely new.
