Oppo Unveils Revolutionary 50MP 10x Camera for Find X9 Ultra

Oppo has incorporated a wealth of technology into the Find X9 Ultra, necessitating multiple presentations to cover all its features. Ahead of tomorrow’s official unveiling, the company provides an in-depth look at its innovative quad camera system.

The spotlight is on the 10x optical zoom (230mm). Oppo notes that while previous devices have attempted similar technology, their execution often resulted in “severely limited light intake and low pixel counts.” In response, Oppo developed the world's first 10x 50MP smartphone camera featuring a quintuple prism lens, measuring just 29mm long; a single prism design would have been substantially longer at 41mm. This intricate design required Active Optical Alignment during assembly, utilizing high-precision cameras to calibrate the lens, sensor, and prism accurately.

The results are noteworthy, featuring a bright f/3.5 lens capable of capturing three times as much light as previous 10x telephoto lenses. Accompanying this is a customized Samsung JNL sensor equipped with sensor-shift stabilization, critical for achieving stability at both 10x and 20x zoom levels. With a resolution of 50MP, the JNL sensor allows for in-sensor zoom, extending to 20x.

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra also boasts two 200MP cameras. The main module features the largest 200MP sensor to date, the 1/1.12” Sony Lytia 901, paired with an f/1.5 lens. Oppo claims its light-gathering capabilities are comparable to those of 1”-type cameras. An in-sensor 2x zoom offers 50MP resolution at approximately 50mm focal length.

Additionally, the 3x telephoto module is equipped with a 1/1.28” sensor and an f/2.2 lens, enabling 2x in-sensor zoom at 50MP, matching the capabilities of the previous Find X8 Ultra. This module also features a close focusing distance of just 15cm, making telephoto macro photography feasible.

Another significant addition is the 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 14mm lens. Its wide aperture allows it to capture 56% more light than its predecessor.

Finally, the new-generation True Color Camera is equipped with a multispectral sensor that boasts a 95° field of view and 5.5x greater dynamic range, enhancing the color accuracy of the images captured by the other cameras.

The Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit for the Oppo Find X9 Ultra

To extend zoom capabilities, Oppo has introduced the Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit. This kit features the Explorer Case, inspired by the design of the Hasselblad X2D 100C Earth Explorer Edition, allowing users to mount 67mm filters or the new teleconverter. The Hasselblad 300mm Explorer Teleconverter comprises 16 glass elements arranged in 11 groups, enhancing magnification by a factor of 4.3x on the 200MP 3x camera, equating to 300mm or 13x optical zoom. Furthermore, in-sensor zoom can extend this to 690mm, or 30x zoom.
