My Future Phone Choice: The Pixel 11 Pro XL

Source: Date:

As a tech enthusiast, I’ve had my fair share of smartphones, but the choice of my next daily driver has never been clearer. After ample experience with both the iPhone 15 Pro Max and my trusty Pixel 6 Pro, I’m ready to embrace the future with the Pixel 11 Pro XL, even before its official unveiling. My decision is rooted in the remarkable features and advancements that the Pixel line has continually offered, especially in the realm of AI.

Reflecting on My Pixel Journey

My journey with Google’s Pixel phones began with the Pixel 2 XL, a device I cherished for its exceptional design and innovative features. The rear fingerprint sensor was conveniently placed, and it felt swift and responsive. Upon its unveiling, I became immediately enamored with the Pixel 6 Pro, drawn in by groundbreaking AI enhancements like Hold for Me and the Magic Eraser.

AI Features That Captivated Me

The Magic Eraser truly revolutionized my photo editing experience. This nifty feature allows users to circle unwanted objects in a picture and have them vanish into thin air, with the AI intelligently reconstructing the background. For instance, if I removed an unsightly truck parked in front of a wall, the AI seamlessly recreated the wall's design, creating a flawless illusion that the truck was never there.

Another standout feature is Hold for Me, which took my calling experience to another level. This feature enables Google Assistant to hold my place in calls, allowing me to move around freely instead of waiting on the line while tethered to my phone.

Tackling Early Issues

My Pixel 6 Pro was a tech marvel, boasting a periscope lens, a robust 5,000 mAh battery, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. However, initial issues such as a flaky modem and a sluggish optical fingerprint sensor prompted a temporary return to my iPhone 11 Pro Max before I upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The Turning Point: The Rise of Gemini AI

Then came Gemini AI, a game-changer for my usage of the Pixel series. For those with Pixel 4 and later devices, replacing Google Assistant with Gemini became an option that elevated my experience significantly. Unlike the previous assistants, Gemini provides comprehensive and insightful responses to my inquiries, making it far more valuable in my daily tasks.

Despite my attempts to use Gemini on my iPhone, nothing compares to invoking it through voice commands on the Pixel, where Google has made substantial improvements over time to issues like the fingerprint sensor and battery performance. Now running the beta versions of Android 17, my Pixel 6 Pro has become my go-to device.

Looking Ahead to the Pixel 11 Pro XL

Having made my decision to purchase the Pixel 11 Pro XL ahead of its reveal, I feel a certain assurance. The previous unveiling left me less than thrilled, and I hope to see more real innovation as opposed to overly produced events. What excites me most about the upcoming model is Google’s dedication to enhancing AI functionalities, such as the faster ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and the rumored facial recognition improvements.

The innovative Magic Cue and Camera Coach features are what I’m eagerly anticipating. It’s evident that Google is serious about using AI to enhance user experiences, standing in stark contrast to Apple’s more casual approach to the technology.

While I’m intrigued to see what advancements Siri 2.0 may bring, there is nothing that could change my mind about switching to the Pixel 11 Pro XL.
